Follow a well-worn road to a weekend in Sassafras, which has retained its original charm since it became a popular destination for city dwellers in the nineteenth century.

 

 

Hop from brunch to a late lunch to dinner in Sassafras's cafes and restaurants, but come back for seconds in the quaint old tea rooms. Take Devonshire tea at Miss Marplestea room, an authentic English cottage inspired by Agatha Christie.

 

Between meals browse in the antique stores and the local specialist shops. Pick up local wine and produce at Ripe, or Sassafras General Store and Cafe, and grab a teapot souvenir from Tea Leaves.

 

Stay the night in your choice of quality boutique accommodation or elegant period guesthouses. 

Stroll through the beautiful Alfred Nicholas or George Tindale gardens. Push yourself to hike the 13km track to Emerald along the mountain stream on the Sassafras Creek Forest Trail.

 

Linger in the lush sun-dappled fern gullies at nearby Sherbrooke Forest as you traverse the nature walk trails past waterfalls and picnic grounds.
