Overlooking the Indian Ocean, Matemwe Retreat offers spacious villas with a private sun terrace, a plunge pool, and free Wi-Fi. Water sports facilities like diving, snorkeling, and canoeing are available on site. Each of the air-conditioned villas has a cocktail bar and space for private dining. All villas offer a spacious bathroom with double basins, a shower, and a large bathtub with views of the Indian Ocean. Guests can start their day with a rich breakfast in the privacy of their room. The property’s restaurant serves local dishes, and packed lunches are also provided. Enjoying a privileged location north of Matemwe, the villas border with a small fishing village where local fisherman set out on a daily basis in their traditional dhows.

All rooms contain all the necessary amenities; air conditioning, wireless Internet access and ceiling / floor fan. The rooms are decorated in a typical Zanzibarian style, with furnishings in beautifully carved dark wood, canopy beds (king size, twin or single) with mosquito nets, and bedside tables and wardrobes. Other decor varies from room to room.

Dining

Early morning tea and coffee will be served on your veranda before breakfast. Start the day with fruit juices, fruits, yoghurt, cereals, pancakes and a full English breakfast.Lunches are buffets with a mix of African and European flavours, while dinners offer a choice of fish, meat and vegetarian main courses. Fresh seafood is naturally the speciality of the house and the catch of the day is served on the roof terrace or at Matemwe's main lodge.
